My job shadow was a good experience. I went around Hamilton Vet Hospital with one of the main vets, Dr. Amy Johnson. It was fun, because I got to do everything from hugging baby kittens to watching the vet perform surgery on a few of the dogs. When I first walked in at 8 in the morning, they gave me a tour of the little hospital. It had three exam rooms, a large back room, and separate little rooms for things such as animals, x-rays, and storage. The first thing they did was check in the customers. I was allowed to watch. After that came the surgeries where they removed a tumor from one dog, and a few teeth from another. My mentor said I was allowed to sit in the room and watch, as long as I didn’t touch anything. After the surgeries were over and the techs cleaned up, my day at the vet hospital was over, ending at around 1:30 PM.
